GRRRRRR......

I HATE WINTER!!!!!!! Sorry I just need to vent a little bit. Jayda and I were supposed to go to a play date today but surprize, surprize......it's SNOWING. The play date is way on the other side of St.Albert so it's a little far to drive in the yucky snow. Oh well, we have another one booked for tomorrow and it's only a few blocks away. Hopefully we actually get to go. Anyway, that's my whinning for the day. Hope everyone is doing o.k. and not FROZEN to death yet.

Cute Pics:)

Official Anouncement

So it is official - We are pregnant!!!! We had our first ultrasound today and saw the little sprout wiggling around. I am 9 weeks along. The due date is September 15th. It was really exciting because the baby really is sprouting little arms and legs already and VERY active. We have known for a little while and some other people know too but now we decided to make it official. It never sems real to me until I actually see the baby on the screen. So yeah, that is our newest news.

In other news.......we have set a wedding date - June 21st 2008. I think most people know about that too but we went shopping last weekend for dresses so now it seems more real! Doreen will be my maid of honor and Carmen is my bridesmaid. That's about as far as the planning has gone so far....LOL.....I guess I should get on the ball a bit!

Hmmm....what else would you all like to know??? Jayda is starting to get her own little "attitude". She is very curious about EVERYTHING around her and she gets frustrated when she can't reach/roll towards what she wants. She just wants to GO, GO, GO. I don't think it will be too long before she is crawling or something resembling crawling:) Something cute she does now - or ONE of the many cute things she does...LOL......is when she wakes up in the morning she calls MUM,MUM for a minute or two then gets really quiet. If she doesn't get a response she calls DAD,DAD and so on and so forth. Usually Steve and I just lie in bed for awhile snickering about how cute she is. After awhile she results to HEY,HEY just to get anybody's attention. Yeah I know, isn't she soooo cute:)

So tomorrow is Valentines day AND Steves 6 year sobriety birthday so we decided to rope Auntie Bean into watching Jayda and we are going to go out to dinner AND a movie! We don't do that sort of stuff often enough so it should be a nice "date".

Well that's all for now folks. Hope you enjoyed my update - I know they are pretty few and far between:)

immunizations

These days have GOT to be the worst days to be a parent. I took Jayda to get her 6 month shots today (yes I know, she is 8 months old) and again, I'm sure it hurt me more than her. I guess it was sorta cute though because between sobs she was saying "mum, mum" and burying her face in my armpit. I'm not sure if that made it harder or easier. At least she wasn't mad at me. Anyhow, down to the details that you all want - Jayda is 28 1/4 inches tall, 17.1 lbs and her head is 44.9 cm round. Other than her head, which grew over 2cm she didn't really grow much. She is on the low end for her weight but I think, and so did the nurse that it's just because she's so tall and she hasn't evened out yet. Other than that the nurse said she seems to be doing well. But of course, I knew that without having some nurse tell me so. Needless to say, today will be cuddle time all day. I called Steve at work when we were done and said that I can't take her next time, he's going to have to do it. But, realistically even though he would do it, I probably will take her. Just give me a couple days to recouperate from the tramatizing experience and I'll be o.k. to do it all again. I guess that's what being a mom is all about:)

Pics

Here's a picture Jayda with "santa" and one taken right after "the big question".

Long over due anouncement

I know, I know this has taken me a little longer to post than most would expect. Anyhow, for those of you who don't know already - which I really don't think there is anyone who doesn't know - Steve and I are ENGAGED.
It is sooooooo exciting. Steve popped the question christmas eve - very romantic! Pretty much the whole family knew and they were involved in pulling off the biggest surprise of my life. "Santa" and his "elves" came to deliver gifts which I though was so thoughful being Jaydas first x-mas and all. I was quite curious when everyone else in the house recived gifts also and as we started opening them I had to keep opening, and opening and opening my big box which quite quickly turned into a very small square box. I looked up from my opening and all eyes were on me and the room was silent........................................Trying to rip open the very last tiny box seemed to take hours. Finally it was opended Steve said his part and............I cried:) Of course it was out of pure joy and happiness and I said YES!.
So now Steve is my fiance and I, his! We are both excited to start planning and continue with our lives together.
And we all lived happily ever after..................................................................to be continued:)

Santa

I took Jayda to the mall yesterday with a friend I met from my meet-up group. We took our daughters to get their pictures taken with santa. I am so proud of Jayda 'cause she didn't cry!!! She didn't really smile either but isn't she just soooo cute:) I just had to let everyone see this adorable kid! Is that the Grant chin or what????

yucky

I HATE WINTER!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just had to get that out. It is way too cold for my liking. We were in a little fender bender today. Some dude slid through a stop sign and dented our poor car:( None of us were hurt though, Thank God. Jayda was asleep in her car seat and didn't even wake up through the whole ordeal. Steve and I are pretty sad about the car. The front passenger fender is a bit smushed and cracked. The other guy was pretty good and accepted responsibily for it so he's going to pay to fix it. But it's just the whole idea that our new car is damaged that sucks!!

So on with some good stuff. Jayda's pediatrition appt. went really good. She weighs 16lbs 3oz and she is just over 27inches long. The Doc said she looked great (of course) and she said that Jayda seems to be advancing well (um duhhh...) LOL. I figured all was well with her and I was right. I am so thankful to have a happy, healthy well adjusted little baby.

Other new news....I finally found a mom and tots meet-up group!!! We went to our first meet-up today and it was TOTALLY fun!! It was a rhyme and sing group and about 8 people/babies showed up. Jayda seemed to really enjoy herself 'cause she smile and babbled the whole time and it was really nice for me to get out and about. I can't wait to go to more meet-ups and get to know some of the moms and their kids.

That's all for now folks.....hungry baby awaits:)

Time for a change

I decided that our blog page was getting old therefor I made some changes. I'm getting better at this whole computer tech stuff so I'm beginning to experiment a bit more. I hope this doesn't result in any loss of data but we will see.

So on with an update. We've been really busy lately due to the fact that Steve now works Mondays and Tuesdays in Edson tattooing with Jeff at Edson Ink. Along with that he still works Wednesday thru Sunday keeping our own tattoo shop going strong. I've been keeping myself occupied with doing house work for Mom and Dad while I'm in Edson, keeping our own house in order and of course spending time with Jayda. This past week Jayda's personality has really began to progress. Her sounds turned into grunts and now the grunts have turned into sounds that are more like babbling. She makes lots of different shapes with her lips and moves her tongue more. It is quite cute. She "talks" so much, so loud that her face gets beet red from lack of oxygen. She can also roll from her tummy to her back and vice versa, eat cookies all by herself, hold her own bottle, sip from a sippy cup - when she feels like it and find her soother during the night/naps and put it back in her mouth by herself. She also shares lots of different foods with Steve and I now such as yogurt, K-D, soup and candy/chocolate. Its kinda funny 'cause Steve and I can't eat ANYTHING without Jayda wanting to try some even if she has just eaten. Her progress is pretty exciting for us. Each day there is something new to be proud of her for and of course love her for more and more and more and more........and some more!!

And that's enough for now......Stay tuned, Jayda has a pediatritian appointment on Friday. I can't to find out how long she is "my little spagetti noodle".

quicky

I suppose I should let you all know how our halloween dance went. I don't have any pics right now but we dressed up as the addams family. Steve was Gomez, I was Morticia and Jayda was supposed to be baby Pubert Addams. She didn't end up going with us because she was a little cranky. We figured people in costumes would just make her mood worse so she stayed home with Nana and Papa. Anyhow, we looked really good - at least that is what we were told and the dance was pretty fun. I'll post pics later - I have an awesome one of Doreen that she will hate me later for if I post it, hee, hee, hee...........
I think that is it for now, I'm feeling pretty tired but if Carmen can find the time and energy to post then I better get my act together too:)
bye

found my toes..

Just thought I'd give a quick update since it's been a month already. We are all doing great and getting excited for Halloween. All three of us will be dressed up but you'll have to wait and see what we will be until after the fact and then I'll post a pic. HEE, HEE, HEE....
Anyhow, Jayda made another milestone yesterday and found her toes. Today she won't leave them alone and doesn't like to wear socks now that she knows what is under them. We are pretty sure she will be cutting a tooth soon 'cause CRABBY!!!!! But really I feel bad for her and I wish she didn't have to go through it but I guess she doesn't want to eat mush the rest of her life so she needs teeth.

grrrrrrr

The pics didn't show up in the last post so I'll try again.

she's so funny.....

So I could sit and watch Jayda all day everyday and never be bored. She is learning so much and the whole process can be quite amusing at times. I figured I'd post a few pics of her latest antics. Altough they won't be as funny as watching in person they are still cute. The first one is her falling asleep while eating green beans. One bite she was awake, I look away to get another bite and POOF, out like a light. I'm sure she'll love me for this picture when she's a teenager:) The next one's don't quite give the whole effect of the situation but just use your imagination and it'll probably make you laugh. Jayda has this weird obsession with trying to LICK things that aren't quite in her reach. The other day while we were shopping with nana, Jayda gave us quite a laugh while trying to lick some sleepers off a clothing rack. Well, tonight when I was getting her changed she pulled this little stunt again, but with the leather couch. She tried her damdest to lick the couch and eventually she succeeded - and then proceeded to gag. I guess leather doesn't taste as good as it looks.....:) Even if no one else sees the humor in this I KNOW that nana will.
I suppose that is the latest with Jayda. She is growing like a weed and getting longer by the day. I take her for her shots(ouch) on wednesday and I can't wait to find out her measurements. The latest with Steve and I is WE BOUGHT A NEW CAR!!!! It is a 2005 Ford Focus hatch back. It is black and fully loaded. I can't post a pic yet cause it is dark outside and it wouldn't turn out too good. I'll post one soon though. Steve nor I have ever had a vehicle even close to this new so we are pretty excited. Other than all that - nothing to excing to write about so I better go. Hope everyone is doing good, bye for now.

More gorgeous by the day....

I can't belive Jayda is almost 4 months old already! Time is flying by and she is growing way too fast. I figured I'd post a picture of her first time in her jolly jumper. She was a little unsure of the whole idea to start with, but she figured it out soon enough and started to enjoy herself. Another new thing she has started lately is sticking out her tongue and blowing so she slobers everywhere. It's totally cute. She is also starting to understand "peek-a-boo". The first few times I tried it with her she just seemed scared - like "what ARE you doing mom???" but now she smiles:)

Other news....We went to Calgary this past weekend for Papa's b-day. The 4 legge's, Nana, Papa, Jayda and I all went to the Calgary zoo. It was really cool. It's the first zoo I've been to where it feels like I'm in the animals habitat, not the animals in my habitat. Overall the weekend was really fun.

Well I suppose that is it for now. I'll be posting again soon because Steve and I are going to the Calgary Tattoo Convention this weekend and I'm sure I'll have some wicked stories. PLUS - we are going without Jayda EEEEEEEEKK!!!! I know she will be fine but I already miss her and we aren't gone yet:(............
Take care

Wow!!! So much happens so fast it's hard to keep up! Everything has been so awesome and the three of us are doing great. Steve has been really busy at the tattoo shop and I've been getting ready for my garage sale this weekend. What a task!!!! I'm sure that I could literally open my own value village. Being a pack rat all my life ended in me having tons of useless JUNK and I'm only 24! Well I'm sure I'll make some good cash. I've already made $215 from 2 people that came to peek at my stuff early. Now I only need another $2000 to pay off the leather furniture and kitchen chairs we just bought......
Anyway, enough about me and Steve, I know you all just want to know about Jayda:) (I don't blame you) As usual we've been busy, busy, busy. Since my last post we had a baby shower - very fun and many, many thanks to all who came. A special thanks to Doreen, Lonnie and my Mom who put the whole thing together. We also went to the Craker Cats game and as you see above, Jayda got her first pic with Crusher!!! It was very exciting and of course, the cats won. In the past few weeks we've also taken a trip to Nana and Papas, helped John and Lonnie move into their new house - wow the closet space:), went to Capital X with Papa and the biggest thing, looked after my 5 year old twin cousins Maegan and Morgan. After two days with them I was exausted and so was Jayda. After the first day that they were here Jayda slept through the entire night for the first time!! But really, it was awesome. The are so well behaved, polite and really fun to have around - and yes up above is a pic of them making playdough from scratch on my FLOOR!!! Now if thats not "stepping out my box I don't know what is:)
Jayda had been doing lots of new things. On July 16th she giggled for the first time! It is the cutest thing in the world. She can also pick up some of her toys by herself and of course they go straight into her mouth. She is sleeping through the night over half the time and is almost of soy formula and on to milk formula. She has made buddies with Mojo and loves watching television. I'm not sure if thats a good thing yet or not.
Well, I guess those are the major things going on in our world. I hope you all enjoyed the update. Take care

I don't really have time for much of an update but I couldn't resist posting this picture. Can you believe those eyes???? How much more gorgeous could she be??

Heart wrenching....

Sometimes being a mom pulls at my heart so bad it hurts. Jayda had her first set of immunizations yesterday and it was tramatizing. Jayda has probably forgotten about it already but I'll never forget. That was the first time she ever REALLY cried and there I am being the meanie holding her down while she gets poked THREE TIMES! Yeah, I cried. Daddy had a really hard time with it too. I know that every parent goes through it and I'm sure it's hard for everybody but I guess it ran a bit deeper for me. I suppose that was my first SMALL taste of what my parents/Steves parents went through with us for years. We were in pain, they could see us hurting yet they couldn't do a damn thing to help take the pain away. I don't know how they did it. I guess that is what being parent who loves your children is all about.

Anyhow, enough with the srious stuff. We've been pretty busy - as usual. In the past couple weeks we had a visit from Grandma Jo and Grandpa Syd It was really nice to see them again already. We also went to a ball-game - Cracker Cats won!!!! And last weekend we went camping. The only thing I'll say about camping is next time before we leave the house a PLAN must be in place. That way we don't spend 3/4 of our time driving around in a scorching hot van. The trip didn't exactly go as expected but it was still fun. Jayda had her first dip in a lake which went pretty good and I got to watch Steve fall out of a canoe which was pretty funny. Oh, and I remembered to put sunscreen on!!!! I can't quite say the same for Steve.....:)
So Jayda's new favorite thing is fudgsicles. I don't know who ever would have givin her some........STEVE......I must admitt though, it is pretty cute!!

Oh by the yesterday Jayda weighed in at 10pounds 1ounce and is 23 and 3/4 of an inch long!! The health nurse said she is doing really well.

Well I guess I better end my novel now, hope you enjoyed the update,
Katy
